about

this album (ramp008) was recorded between may 2010 and june 2011 at my cold furnace studio in bielefeld.

it was called "return" because it was the most analogue-sounding album ['ramp] had made so far, going back even further than "nodular" (1998') or "frozen radios" (2000). this album literally marked a return to heavily sequencer-driven electronic music combined with apocalyptic ambience.

it showcases a lot of analogue and early digital synthesisers and sequencers (such as the rmi harmonic synthesizer, mini moog, arp 2600, ems vcs-3, prophet 5, triadex muse, mellotron, korg polyphonic ensemble 2000, and elka rhapsody), and of course the entire album was produced without midi.

"infernal machines 1 & 2" was recorded on 12th march 2011 with nhk news broadcast on tv.

the album is dedicated to stanislav petrov.

Originally founded in the spring of 1996. The name refers to the Dutch word "de ramp" which means "disaster" or "catastrophe".

Between 1997 and 2003, ['ramp] released a string of albums and played a couple of concerts in the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany before Parsick went entirely solo in 2009.
